AWS Well-Architected Review
The AWS Well-Architected Framework is a collection of AWS Best Practices about running workloads in the AWS Cloud. It is split up in two five “pillars”:
- Operational Excellence
- Security
- Reliability
- Performance Efficiency
- Cost Optimization
For each pillar, the Well-Architected Framework outlines specific Best Practices developed by AWS.
In order to see how one of your workloads measures up to these AWS Best Practices, AWS has developed the Well-Architected Review Partner Program. Through this program, qualified AWS Partners (like Ordinary Experts) can lead AWS customers through the Well-Architected Review process using the AWS Well-Architected Tool.
The Well-Architected Review is a 2-4 hour meeting which can be done via conference call or in-person. During this meeting, one of Ordinary Experts’ Technology Leads will go through the Well-Architected Tool with your key stakeholders. Immediately after the meeting, you will receive a PDF report of the outcome of the Well-Architected Review. This PDF report will list out all “High Risk” and “Medium Risk” issues that were identified through the Well-Architected Review.
After the meeting, Ordinary Experts will prepare a follow-up document which will include recommendations for remediating “High Risk” items in the review. If you agree to work with Ordinary Experts to make these improvements to your workload, then AWS will issue you a $5,000 AWS service credit once the improvements are completed.
In order to make this program as simple and straightforward as possible, we have developed a packaged consulting solution which delivers on the Well-Architected Review and assists with remediation.
Here is what is included in our Well-Architected Review package:
- 30 minute Introductory Call
- 2-4 hour Well-Architected Review Meeting
- Delivery of initial Well-Architected Review report
- Recommendations to remediate “High Risk” items
- 20 hours of Tech Lead time towards remediation
- 5 hours of Project Manager time towards remediation
- 1 hour Follow-up Well-Architected Review Meeting (to make note of items which were improved)
- Submission of Well-Architected Reviews to AWS
Cost: $5,000 USD
After we submit the before and after Well-Architected Reviews to AWS, AWS will send you a survey asking you to rate your experience working with Ordinary Experts on the Well-Architected Review. After completing that survey, AWS will send you an AWS service credit for $5,000 which you can apply to your AWS account. So this program basically pays for itself!
